what is
sound
therapy?

A sound therapy session is a complete rebalancing of the body, mind and spirit. The sounds and vibrations created by each instrument can help you ‘switch off’ so you’re able to reach a deep meditative state. In this beautiful space you’re able to disconnect from the outside world, and reconnect with your higher-self.

Although it might seem like a new age treatment, sound therapy isn’t a new practice. Many cultures have been using the Wisdom of Sound to help people bring about positive change in their wellbeing for generations. Whether it’s through voice, the use of instruments or both, they knew the power of sound was capable
of helping guide people back to balance, harmony and wellness.

Sound therapy works by ‘re-tuning’ our own natural rhythm, frequency or vibration. Each therapeutic instrument used during a session creates a spectrum of sounds and subtle vibrations which ripple effortlessly through all layers of your being, helping restore your unique resonance. To benefit, all you need to do is lie down, make yourself comfortable, and close your eyes, the rest is up to the Wisdom of Sound and your higher-self.

During a session, it’s common to feel an overwhelming sense of calm and tranquillity that can stay with you long after the session has finished. Some of the many other benefits of sound therapy include:

  • Stress reduction and/or a better ability to cope with stress

  • Lowered anxiety

  • Improved sleep quality

  • Increased mood and positivity

  • Feeling rejuvenated

  • Sense of contentment

  • Increased focus

  • Being present in the moment

  • Connecting with heart space and intuition

  • Feeling balanced and in harmony with yourself and others

  • Improved circulation

  • Reduction in pain

  • Released emotional pressure

  • Space to let well-being and positivity manifest

The degree of benefit you experience varies from session to session, depending on your physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual needs. It’s my belief, that sound therapy meets you were you are at that moment in time and your higher-self always has your best interest at heart, only taking what is needed from your session. Even the smallest positive change can make a big impact to your overall well-being.

If you feel you or someone you know could benefit, please contact Campbell via studio@centreofcalm.com.au or 0493 732 813. It will be an honour to share the Wisdom of Sound with you.

My first encounter of sound therapy was in a group setting called a sound bath. Even though I was sharing the space with a group of people, I was amazed at how personal the session felt and even more amazed at how I left the session feeling lighter, clearer and calmer than when I arrived.

As the positive effects of every sound bath I attended grew, so did my curiosity and desire to know more about the therapeutic qualities of sound. After a short intensive introduction course into sound therapy, I began my journey to becoming a certified sound therapist through the ‘Gong Practitioner Training Course’ at the UK based College of Sound Healing.

With my knowledge, experience and appreciation of the powerful benefits of sound therapy evolving, so did my belief that the sounds and vibrations created by the instruments are more like a language able to communicate what I lovingly call the Wisdom of Sound with your whole being.

The Wisdom of Sound is amazing and needs to be experienced to fully comprehend its ability to calm your mind, relax your body, lift your spirit and nourish your soul. It gives you the space, time and guidance needed to reconnect with your higher-self to bring us back into balance and harmony giving your overall wellbeing a boost.

Being a sound therapist has allowed me to support and assist people through a variety of situations. If you would like to find out how the Wisdom of Sound could benefit you, please contact Campbell at studio@centreofcalm.com.au or 0493 732 813. It would be an honour to share the incredible language of these instruments with you.

Your sound therapy session begins with some simple breathing techniques followed some very gentle stretching movements to help loosen the body.

From here, just lie back and relax as the Wisdom of Sound of the therapeutic tones and vibrations guide you into a deep meditative state where time and space cease to exist. Following your journey, you’ll be welcomed back and have time to reflect on your experience.

group
sessions

The group sound therapy session, or sound bath, is a great way to discover the power of sound. The sessions are generally kept small, up to 12 people, and are generally held in a small hall. The space is held with love and compassion to offer everyone a safe environment where they feel free to receive the messages from the instruments and release what no longer serves their higher-self.

Group sound therapy sessions: from $25.00 per person

client testimonials

As this was my first sound bath I was feeling quite intrigued about what I was going to experience. I knew I was in good hands right from the opening as Campbell made me feel very safe. As the session began, it took me a short time for my mind to stop analysing what was going on and what I was hearing. Once I let go, the sounds created some strong sensations, especially the higher pitched tones which I had a kaleidoscopic reaction to, seeing bright swirls of colour that changed as different tones were played. I’m leaving feeling extremely content, relaxed and of the world.

This was my first sound bath, I was feeling relaxed and looking forward to the experience. I feel amazing, what a powerful experience. I felt I went into very deep meditation. All my body was vibrating, it was breathtaking. I can’t believe I haven’t tried a sound bath before. I’m already looking forward to another experience, thank you.

Follow-up: I have been amazing since the sound bath, feeling so energised and hopeful. The session definitely unblocked a few things in my life.”

“The session has made a big difference to me. I’m normally a happy person but for the last month or so I’ve been quite down and finding it hard to get motivated. Two days after the session, I met a friend and was able to release a lot of stuck energy which I believe was shifted during the sound bath. It actually feels like a boulder has been removed, so much so I’ve been able to sit and write all the materials I need for my workshops and have even received the first bookings. Thank you and will return for the another session soon.”
